About The Position

Riverview Regional Medical Center in Gadsden, Alabama, is seeking a Medical Surgical Nursing Assistant (Non-Certified), also referred to as a Nursing Assistant (NA) or Med-Surg NA. This full-time role works day shifts in 12-hour shifts from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. Entry-level applicants with no prior experience are encouraged to apply.

The Nursing Assistant supports patient care by helping patients with daily activities, mobility, feeding, and vital signs, and by monitoring for changes in their condition. The role also supports nurses, helps maintain supplies, may assist with wound care under an RN’s direction, and helps keep the environment clean and safe.

Requirements

• Current BLS within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
• Knowledge of medical terminology.

Nice To Haves

• Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire, preferred.
• At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office, preferred.

Responsibilities

• Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
• Help patients with mobility, including turning, repositioning, and transferring, to prevent skin breakdown.
• Feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake and output.
• Take and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
• Observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to nurses.
• Assist with wound care under the direction of an RN.
• Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms.
• Help keep the environment clean and safe.
• Assist in transporting patients within the hospital.
