About The Position
Riverview Regional Medical Center is seeking a Medical Surgical Nursing Assistant (Non-Certified), also referred to as a Nursing Assistant (NA) or Med-Surg NA. The role supports patient care by assisting with daily activities, mobility, feeding, and vital signs, and by monitoring patients for changes. The Nursing Assistant also helps nurses maintain supplies, assists with wound care under an RN’s direction, and helps keep the environment clean and safe. This position is per diem (PD/PRN), meaning work is provided as needed, with variable shifts and hours.
Requirements
- Current BLS within 30 days of hire and maintained thereafter.
- Knowledge of medical terminology.
Nice To Haves
- Current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate upon hire.
- At least six months of previous experience in an acute care hospital or physician’s office.
Responsibilities
- Assist patients with activities of daily living, including bathing, dressing, and toileting.
- Help patients with mobility, including turning, repositioning, and transferring, to help prevent skin breakdown.
- Feed patients who need assistance and monitor intake and output.
- Take and record vital signs, including temperature, blood pressure, pulse, and respiration.
- Observe and report changes in a patient’s condition to nurses.
- Assist with wound care under the direction of an RN.
- Stock and maintain supplies in patient rooms.
- Help keep the environment clean and safe.
- Assist in transporting patients within the hospital.
