This role involves delivering direct and indirect patient care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of care. The Nursing Assistant/Tech Partner will perform and/or assist with patient care needs as directed, including assisting patients with activities of daily living. Responsibilities include responding to call lights, inquiries, and requests from patients and families in a timely manner, and collecting, documenting, and reporting ongoing patient care data. The position also involves measuring and/or documenting intake and output, obtaining daily weights when indicated, and obtaining individual patient care equipment as directed. Transporting patients as directed is also a key function. The role may involve performing various skills such as obtaining vital signs, applying heating pads, setting up suction equipment, utilizing E cylinders, applying antiembolic hose, aseptic techniques, distributing and maintaining linens, applying Sequential Compression Devices, performing blood glucose testing, ostomy care, simple dressing changes, applying telemetry leads, bladder scanning, and preventative skin care. Additionally, the role includes applying pulse oximetry, urinary catheter care, transporting blood and blood products, performing EKGs, oral pharyngeal suctioning, placing patients in CPM machines, preparing and maintaining isolation boxes and supplies, decluttering patient rooms, delivering specimens to the lab, crutch measurement and teaching, maintenance of specialty carts, supply inventory, stocking warmers, making regular rounds for patient needs and environment, assisting in patient education, obtaining resources, reporting patient readiness to learn to RN/LPN, maintaining collaborative relationships with healthcare providers, communicating pertinent information, participating in performance improvement activities, assisting in data collection, recommending modifications, demonstrating leadership, problem-solving with critical thinking, maintaining accountability, functioning as a resource, acting as a patient advocate, performing as a preceptor/mentor, assisting in cost reduction, assisting with regulatory compliance, and maintaining survey readiness. Adherence to infection control processes, providing for patient safety, utilizing proper patient identification, assuming code team roles, responding to emergencies, maintaining a safe and clean environment, completing specimen collection and delivery, and supporting limited use of restraints are also essential duties.
