About The Position
The Nursing Assistant Surgical position on 5 Northwest is a 33-bed surgical unit specializing in the care of adult patients undergoing various surgical procedures including cardiac, thoracic, peripheral vascular, and general surgery. The unit also cares for patients with Congestive Heart Failure and those undergoing trauma workups. The mission of the unit is to provide an exceptional patient and family-centered experience in a safe and holistic environment. Royal Oak Hospital is recognized as a top hospital in Michigan and nationally, holding Magnet designation and Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
- Current CNA certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher.
- Dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
- Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.
- Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
- Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
