About The Position
The Nursing Assistant Surgical position is on the 5 Northwest unit, a 33-bed surgical unit specializing in the care of adult patients undergoing various surgical procedures including cardiac surgery, thoracic surgery, peripheral vascular surgery, general surgery, and trauma work-up, as well as patients with Congestive Heart Failure. The unit's mission is to provide an exceptional patient and family-centered experience in a safe and holistic environment. Royal Oak Hospital is recognized as a top hospital in Michigan and nationally, holding Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations, Magnet designation four consecutive times, and is home to Michigan's first Diagnostic Imaging Center of Excellence.
Requirements
- High school graduate or equivalent
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support required
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience preferred
- Current CNA certification preferred
Responsibilities
- Provides care to the patient according to the plan of care, unit routine and hospital policy under the direction of a Registered Nurse.
- Safe transport of patients via wheelchair or stretcher, dispatch services and appropriate documentation of services.
- Provides the services of an Observer for any patient on a patient care unit who has been assessed to require constant observation, either in person or via remote video monitoring, to maximize his/her safety.
- Performs general receptionist and clerical duties to facilitate efficient functioning of the nursing unit.
- Documentation of care provided in the electronic medical record.
