About The Position

Under the direction/supervision of an RN, provides basic nursing care for assigned group of patients. The role involves caring for patients across various units, including General Nursing Units (age 15 to maturity), Special Care Areas (age 15 through adult with high-risk conditions), Maternal Child Units (Labor and Delivery, Nursery, Pediatric - neonate through age eighteen), GI Lab Unit (toddlers, beginning age 24 months, through adult), Chemical Dependent Unit and Psychiatric Unit (adult patients and family with holistic approach to emotional problems), Emergency Unit (all ages), and Surgical Services (neonate to geriatric). The position requires completing established competencies for the role within a designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent
  • BLS-Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention obtained with 60 days of hire or transfer to position

Nice To Haves

  • Satisfactorily completed a Nurse Assistant, EMT, Paramedic or Medical Assisting course.
  • 6 months in healthcare industry and/or knowledge of basic medical terms and procedures

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic nursing care for assigned group of patients under the direction/supervision of an RN.
  • Cares for patients from age 15 years to maturity in General Nursing Units.
  • Cares for patients from age 15 years through adult with high-risk conditions in Special Care Areas.
  • Provides care in Maternal Child Units, including Labor and Delivery, Nursery, and Pediatric patients.
  • Cares for toddlers (beginning age 24 months) through adult in the GI Lab Unit.
  • Cares for adult patients and family with holistic approach to emotional problems in the Chemical Dependent Unit and Psychiatric Unit.
  • Provides care to presenting patients of all ages in the Emergency Unit.
  • Provides care to patients from neonate to geriatric in Surgical Services.
  • Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
