About The Position

Under direction of the RN or LPN, this role reinforces educational needs to adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients who present with readiness to learn. The Nursing Assistant assists with dietary trays and feeds patients when indicated, and turns, repositions, and assists in ambulation of patients as ordered using proper body mechanics. They keep accurate records of daily patient activities and perform post-mortem care on patients following nursing procedures. This role requires knowledge of the growth and developmental needs of patients from middle adolescence through geriatrics, and the ability to accurately assess and adjust interventions based upon patient age. The employee also assists with dietary needs, monitoring patient intake when necessary through I&O or titration of fluids, and reports/records any changes observed in the condition or behavior of patients.

Requirements

  • Work requires the ability to read well enough to follow specific and detailed nursing procedures, the ability to write legibly, use good English grammar, spell accurately and communicate effectively with a variety of people.
  • Completion of a certified nursing assistant program or previous experience.

Nice To Haves

  • Three to twelve months as a nursing assistant is preferred.
