About The Position

NaphCare is seeking to hire Nursing Assistants and Patient Care Technicians (NA/PCT) to join their team of medical professionals. This role involves working under the supervision of a registered nurse alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to individuals in residence within a correctional facility. The position requires assisting physicians and other healthcare professionals with examinations, taking patient histories and vital signs, and supporting administrative tasks. It offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of a diverse patient population with complex medical needs in a secure environment where days are never dull.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening
Must have the ability to stand for long periods, lift and move patients (up to 50 pounds), bend, squat, reach, push, pull, walk significant distances, and perform physically demanding tasks like CPR, all while maintaining good balance and endurance throughout a shift.

Responsibilities

Assist with performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and weight
Documenting medical history including medications, treatment and medical conditions
Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills including bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility
Providing basic wound care, basic laboratory tests, basic patient education and instructions
Observing and reporting changes in patients’ physical or mental health to nurses
Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments
Maintaining inventory of medical and office supplies
Answering phones, emails and other forms of communications
