About The Position

NaphCare is seeking to hire Nursing Assistants and Patient Care Technicians (NA/PCT) to join their team of medical professionals. This role involves working under the supervision of a registered nurse alongside correctional officers and other medical professionals to provide care to individuals in residence within a correctional facility. The position offers a unique opportunity to make a difference in the lives of a diverse patient population with complex medical needs in a controlled environment where security is a top priority. Duties include assisting physicians and other healthcare professionals with examinations, taking patient histories, vital signs, and supporting administrative tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
  • Be able to obtain BLS CPR Certification (AHA preferred)
  • Ability to interact effectively with patients from diverse backgrounds, including those with mental health or substance abuse issues
  • Must have the ability to maintain confidentiality of all proprietary and/or confidential information and integrity, professionalism and ability to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Display integrity, professionalism and be able to adhere to a Code of Conduct and comply with all facility(s) correctional healthcare policies, procedures, and legal requirements
  • Must pass the facility’s criminal background check and drug screening

Responsibilities

  • Assist with performing patient assessments, interviewing patients about current health problems, medication history
  • Taking vital signs including blood pressure, temperature, respiration, and weight
  • Documenting medical history including medications, treatment and medical conditions
  • Assist with Activities of Daily Living (ADL) skills including bathing, dressing, feeding and mobility
  • Providing basic wound care, basic laboratory tests, basic patient education and instructions
  • Observing and reporting changes in patients’ physical or mental health to nurses
  • Scheduling and coordinating patient appointments
  • Maintaining inventory of medical and office supplies
  • Answering phones, emails and other forms of communications
