The Technical Partner provides direct and indirect patient care under the direction of the RN or LPN. This role involves delivering patient care in accordance with hospital policies, procedures, protocols, and standards of care. Responsibilities include assisting patients with activities of daily living, responding to patient and family needs, collecting and documenting patient data, measuring intake and output, and obtaining daily weights when indicated. The Technical Partner will also obtain patient care equipment, transport patients, and may perform various clinical skills such as taking vital signs, applying heating pads, setting up suction equipment, utilizing E cylinders, applying antiembolic hose, aseptic techniques, distributing linens, applying Sequential Compression Devices, performing blood glucose testing, ostomy care, simple dressing changes, applying telemetry leads, bladder scanning, and preventative skin care. Additional duties include applying pulse oximetry, urinary catheter care, transporting blood and blood products, performing EKGs, oral pharyngeal suctioning, placing patients in CPM machines, preparing isolation boxes, decluttering rooms, delivering specimens, crutch measurement and teaching, maintaining specialty carts, managing supply inventory, stocking warmers, and performing purposeful hourly rounding. The role also supports the educational process for patients, communicates patient information to the RN/LPN, collaborates with other healthcare providers, participates in performance improvement activities, and acts as a patient advocate. The Technical Partner is expected to demonstrate leadership, problem-solving skills, and maintain accountability for their actions. They will also assist in maintaining and decreasing costs, ensure compliance with regulatory agencies, adhere to infection control processes, provide for patient safety, utilize proper patient identification, assume code team roles, respond to emergencies, maintain a safe environment, and complete specimen collection and delivery. Support for limited use of restraints and other assigned duties are also part of the role.
