About The Position

The Surgical Nursing Assistant-OR Part Time I First Shift Weekends position is within the Surgical Services Department at Baptist Health Lexington. This department includes the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department, and a Sterile Processing Department. The Surgical Nursing Assistant assists hospital staff and patients with high-quality, safe patient care, including basic physical care, safe patient transport, and performing tasks as directed. They also demonstrate knowledge of aseptic technique, ensure positive customer interactions, and participate in unit activities. A key part of the role involves aiding in surgical procedures and performing basic circulating functions under the direction of a Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. On-call duties are required on a rotating basis for weeknights, weekends, and holidays.

Requirements

High School Diploma and/or Equivalent.
Current KY Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completions of first year of Nursing program with validation of clinical rotation.
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.

Responsibilities

Assists hospital staff/department in the provision of high quality, safe patient care at the direction of management and/or nursing personnel.
Provides basic physical care of the patient.
Demonstrates safe patient transport with stretcher, wheelchairs, and patient beds.
Performs tasks and procedures as directed according to hospital policy and procedure.
Demonstrates knowledge of and utilizes principles of aseptic technique.
Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
Actively participates in unit activities.
Aids in Surgical Procedures and certain basic circulating functions under the direction of the Registered Nurse in the Operating Room.
Performs on-call duties on weeknights, weekends, and holidays as picked by rotation.
