Baptist Health Lexington Surgical Services Department encompasses several key areas: the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms with a business office staff responsible for scheduling, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department with dedicated pre- and post-op areas, and a Sterile Processing Department. The Surgical Nursing Assistant-OR assists the hospital staff/department in the provision of high quality, safe patient care. They provide basic physical care of the patient, demonstrate safe patient transport with stretcher, wheelchairs, and patient beds, and perform tasks and procedures as directed according to hospital policy and procedure. The role also involves demonstrating knowledge of and utilizing principles of aseptic technique, ensuring positive customer relations interactions, and actively participating in unit activities. Additionally, the assistant aids in surgical procedures and certain basic circulating functions under the direction of the Registered Nurse in the Operating Room. On-call is required and is picked by rotation for weeknights, weekends, and holidays.
