About The Position

The Nursing Assistant (NA) serves as caregiver to the patient during the scheduled work period. The NA provides patient-centered nursing care and daily living assistance to assigned patient under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN). Requirements

  • High school graduate or general equivalency diploma (GED) preferred, but not required.
  • Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) is preferred.
  • Obtains and subsequently maintains required department specific competencies and certifications.
  • If working in North Dakota (ND) or Minnesota (MN) and not a Certified Nursing Assistant, must be on the NA Registry as a Nursing Assistant through the North Dakota Dept. of Health or through the Minnesota Dept. of Health within four months from the date of hire.
  • If working in Wisconsin, must be on the Wisconsin Nurse Aid Registry with current work eligibility.

Responsibilities

  • Provide assistance with basic health care needs including bathing, grooming, toileting, and eating, while supporting emotional and spiritual needs
  • Record vital statistics, blood glucose levels, and other basic health information
  • Assist with patient transfers and ambulation
  • Perform clerical work related to scheduling and documenting patient healthcare
  • Prepare and clean patient treatment areas, living areas, and medical equipment
  • Dispose of biomedical waste in accordance with standards and policy
  • Assisting with daily living activities
  • Monitoring and reporting changes in patient conditions
  • Ensuring patient safety and well-being
