About The Position

This is a full-time (40 hours/week) internship position at MNGI Digestive Health's Clinical Site. The role involves assisting patients with admissions and discharges, providing emotional support, collaborating with the healthcare team, and ensuring patient comfort and safety. The intern will also be responsible for room turnover, restocking supplies, and communicating patient concerns to the nursing team. This position requires active enrollment in a formal nursing program and adherence to MNGI's Culture of Caring, emphasizing Compassion, Teamwork, and Integrity.

Responsibilities

  • Greet and room patients in admitting
  • Assist in patient admission including undressing, weighing, measuring height, obtaining baseline vital signs, reviewing colonoscopy prep and NPO status as appropriate, and other pertinent information as directed by nursing staff
  • Answer patient call lights promptly
  • Assist in patient discharge, including assisting patient to dress and transporting to awaiting vehicle/responsible adult via wheelchair if indicated
  • Prioritizes and provides care based on the individualized plan of care, flexible with staffing needs and assigned duties of the ASC
  • Provides emotional support and comfort for patient/family members, as appropriate
  • Prioritize workload while being flexible to meet the expectations of the daily operations
  • Assist with room turn over including cleaning admitting and recovery bays, making beds, and re-stocking supplies
  • Collaborate effectively with nursing staff, physicians, endoscopy technicians and anesthesia providers to ensure optimal patient care
  • Communicate any patent concerns or issues to the nursing team promptly
  • Any and all other duties as assigned
