About The Position

The Nursing Assistant II (NA II) is an entry-level position specifically designed for current nursing students aiming to enrich their preparation for a nursing career. Under the guidance of an experienced nurse, you will acquire valuable hands-on experience by providing safe, efficient, age-specific care to patients and families in order to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and/or sustain optimal health status. The role is designed to build upon the experience gained in the classroom and during clinical rotations. NA IIs work under the direction of an RN to provide safe, efficient, age-specific care to patients and families to assist them to attain, maintain, regain, and/or sustain optimal health status.

Requirements

  • Enrollment in a Diploma RN, Associate, Bachelor or Master’s degree of Nursing
  • Successful completion of a hands-on, direct patient care clinical through a Registered Nurse Program
  • Thorough knowledge of nursing process and practice.
  • Successful completion of a Nursing Fundamentals course required.
  • Uses a wide variety of technical equipment to meet patient needs and prescribed medical therapies (i.e. stethoscope, thermometers, glucometers, and electronic monitoring devices).
  • Excellent communication skills.
  • Current enrollment in an accredited A.D.N. nursing program required.
  • Current enrollment in a BSN nursing program preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior experience on a related unit or specialty in a practicum, internship or STNA/PCNA/NAII is preferred

Responsibilities

  • Direct patient care delivery, including, but not limited to: ADLs/hygiene, Vital signs, I&O, Bladder scanning, EKG, Glucometer & other point of care testing (where applicable) and Restraints
  • Communication and documentation of interventions and observations
  • Participation in quality improvement process
  • Involved in learning and self-improvement
  • Initiates and maintains a positive relationship with patients/customers and coworkers
  • Direct patient care delivery (includes ADLs, hygiene measures, select treatments, patient/family education, discharge preparation)
