About The Position

The Pre-OP Nursing Assistant II position is a full-time role on the first shift within the Surgical Services Department at Baptist Health Lexington. This department includes the Pre-Op Department, 20 operating rooms, a Postoperative Care Unit, an Endoscopy Department, and a Sterile Processing Department. The Nursing Assistant II assists hospital staff and management in providing high-quality, safe patient care. This role involves performing basic physical care, safe patient transport, and routine duties to support medical and nursing personnel in patient examination, treatment, and care, all in accordance with hospital policies and procedures. The position requires on-call duties on a rotating basis, including weeknights, weekends, and holidays. The role also emphasizes ensuring positive customer interactions and active participation in unit activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma and/or Equivalent.
  • Current KY Nurse Aide Certification, or successful completions of first year of Nursing program with validation of clinical rotation
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification is required. If not already certified, applicants must obtain BLS within 30 days of their hire date.

Responsibilities

  • Assists hospital staff/department in the provision of high quality, safe patient care at the direction of management and/or nursing personnel.
  • Provides basic physical care of the patient.
  • Demonstrates safe patient transport with stretcher, wheelchairs, and patient beds.
  • Performs tasks and procedures as directed according to hospital policy and procedure.
  • Ensures positive customer relations interactions.
  • Actively participates in unit activities.
  • Perform routine duties to assist medical and nursing personnel in the examination, treatment and care of patients.
  • On Call required-weeknights, weekends, and holiday picked by rotation.
