The Nursing Assistant II performs patient care to patients under the direction and supervision of the Licensed Practical Nurse or Registered Nurse. This role involves assisting patients with hygiene, mobility, hydration, elimination, and nutritional needs. The Nursing Assistant II also provides routine treatments, maintains a safe and organized patient environment, and ensures the safety and security of patients, families, and the healthcare team. Key responsibilities include assuring patient privacy, rights, and confidentiality, following standard precautions, and assisting with patient admissions, transfers, and discharges. The role also requires taking and recording vital signs, documenting patient information, and communicating any safety concerns or changes in patient condition to the RN. Additionally, the Nursing Assistant II participates in handoff reports, purposeful hourly rounding, and provides exceptional service to all patients and team members. Competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by Orlando Health and unit-specific requirements is essential. The role also includes maintaining a clean nursing unit, processing calls and requests, and transporting items and medications within the facility. The Nursing Assistant II must maintain regular attendance, comply with all policies, and enthusiastically support planned changes. Participation in nursing Performance Improvement activities, awareness of legal issues and patient rights, and effective time and resource utilization are also expected. The role requires demonstrating knowledge of growth and development over the life span and the ability to assess and interpret patient status based on age-specific needs.
