About The Position

Under the direction/supervision of an RN, provides basic nursing care for assigned group of patients. This role supports various nursing units including General Nursing Units, Special Care Areas, Maternal Child Units (Labor and Delivery, Nursery), Pediatric, GI Lab Unit, Chemical Dependent Unit and Psychiatric Unit, and Emergency Unit. The Nursing Assistant will care for patients across a wide age range, from neonates to geriatrics, depending on the unit. The position requires completing established competencies for the role within a designated introductory period. Other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent.
  • BLS - Obtained through approved American Heart Association Training Center or the Military Training Network.
  • Non-Violent Crisis Intervention obtained within 60 days of hire or transfer to position.

Nice To Haves

  • Satisfactorily completed a Nurse Assistant, EMT, Paramedic or Medical Assisting course.
  • 6 months in healthcare industry and/or knowledge of basic medical terms and procedures.

Responsibilities

  • Provides basic nursing care for assigned group of patients under the direction/supervision of an RN.
  • Cares for patients from age 15 years to maturity in General Nursing Units.
  • Cares for patients from age 15 years through adult with high risk conditions in Special Care Areas.
  • Provides care for patients with pregnancy-related conditions in Labor and Delivery.
  • Provides care for newborns until discharge status in the Nursery.
  • Provides care to patients from neonate through age of eighteen in Pediatric units.
  • Cares for toddlers (beginning age 24 months) through adult in the GI Lab Unit.
  • Cares for adult patients and families with holistic approach to emotional problems in Chemical Dependent and Psychiatric Units.
  • Provides care to presenting patients of all ages in the Emergency Unit.
  • Provides care to patients from neonate to geriatric in Surgical Services.
  • Completes established competencies for the position within designated introductory period.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
