About The Position

Our mission of the Louisiana Veterans Homes is to serve the Veteran population of Louisiana through the provision of nursing assistant services in an atmosphere of respect and compassion. Join the State of Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs at the Southeast Louisiana Veterans Home, where you'll step into a role as a Nursing Assistant 1 or Nursing Assistant 2 that services excellence care for those who served and with genuine care that serves over 150 veterans. Here, you will provide nursing operations, including care of one of four care units, ensuring coverage and high-quality resident care in a 156-bed long-term care facility.

Requirements

  • Six months of experience or training in patient care
  • Possession of a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate
  • Completion of an accredited Registered Nursing, Practical Nursing, Medical Assistant, or Emergency Medical Technician Program.
  • NOTE: Positions at facilities receiving certain Medicaid or Medicare funds require that applicants possess a current Certified Nursing Assistant certificate.

Responsibilities

  • Bathe/groom patients, distributes clean linen, washes, dries, folds and stores patient clothing.
  • Cleans equipment such as whirlpool tub and weight scale.
  • Promoting continuous improvement in nursing assistant care, delivery and adherence to policy and procedure standards.
  • Reports resident complaints and incidents, collaborating with Nursing Assistant Supervisor 1 or 2 to ensure care and resident safety.
  • Escorts/transports patients to examinations, clinics, recreation sites and other areas as needed.
