About The Position
The Nursing Resource Pool (NRP) is a dynamic team within Corewell Health, comprising various healthcare professionals including Nurses, Nursing Aides, Desk Secretaries, and Patient Observation Aides. This team acts as a critical support system for the hospital, deploying staff to areas experiencing shortages. It serves as an excellent learning environment for students, offering exposure to a wide range of patient types and care settings across different units. The NRP staff experience a varied and engaging work environment, rarely encountering boredom due to the daily changes in patient care assignments. Their contributions are highly valued by patients, families, and hospital staff for the expertise and assistance they provide. The NRP department emphasizes flexibility in scheduling to accommodate personal, family, and work-life balance needs.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or Equivalent
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), Required by completion of orientation.
Nice To Haves
- Previous patient care experience in a hospital or nursing home
- Current CNA certification
Responsibilities
- Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care.
- Helps in the environmental maintenance of the nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse and within the scope of defined practice.
- Provides for personal care and safety needs of patients promptly under the supervision of licensed nursing staff, including specific procedures and patient testing addressed in the patient plan of care.
- Maintains an orderly unit environment with sufficient supplies and equipment to facilitate staff performance of patient care.
- Contributes to effective communication related to patient care and efficient unit operation.
- Facilitates the admission, discharge, and transfer of patients on and off the unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.
