About The Position

The Nursing Aide IMC position is a full-time day shift role, working from 7 am to 7:30 pm. Corewell Health is offering a $1500 sign-on bonus for new hires. This role is on the IMC (Intermediate Care) unit, which is described as a high-energy unit that promotes a positive culture and work environment with flexible scheduling and strives to maintain a competitive nurse to patient ratio. The unit has teamwork-oriented nurses with excellent support staff, including nursing assistants, telemetry technicians, and unit secretaries. They care for a diverse patient population with respiratory, cardiac, and neuro illnesses, often including patients on cardiac drips, post-cardiac catheterization, and those with COPD/pneumonia/CHF. IMC staff meet monthly for unit council to address concerns, serve as a voice for the unit, and plan activities like unit outings, in-house activities, and volunteer opportunities. Wayne Hospital is a Magnet®-designated facility providing exceptional nursing and advanced medical, surgical, emergency, and critical care services. It is a 99-bed, full-service acute care center, the only Level III trauma center in its area, and certified by The Joint Commission. The hospital has a long-standing partnership with Detroit Metropolitan Wayne County Airport and the CDC. It has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as high-performing in congestive heart failure, chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, and kidney failure.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent, Required
  • American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), Required by completion of Orientation

Nice To Haves

  • Previous hospital or nursing home experience, Preferred
  • Current CNA certification, Preferred

Responsibilities

  • Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care and helps in the environmental maintenance of the nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse and within the scope of defined practice.
  • Provides for personal care and safety needs of patients promptly under the supervision of licensed nursing staff including specific procedures and patient testing addressed in the patient plan of care.
  • Maintains an orderly unit environment with sufficient supplies and equipment in order to facilitate staff performance of patient care.
  • Contributes to effective communication as it related to the provision of patient care and the efficient operation needs of the unit.
  • Facilitates the admission, discharge and transfer of patients on and off unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.
