About The Position
Corewell Health is offering up to $750 as a sign-on bonus for this opportunity for new hires! About this unit 4 Med Surg is comprised of a 38-bed unit with all private rooms. The unit includes 4 bariatric capable rooms, 2 negative pressure rooms and telemetry capability. We take a variety of patients including but not limited to renal issues, abdominal pain, complicated UTIs, post-op patients, CIWA patients, psych patients, SOB/COPD exacerbation, hospice, anemia, pneumonia, DVT, and seizure management. Med/Surg is a great way to grow your nursing skills in time management and assessment no matter your years of experience. We are a great team that is very engaged in patient safety and have maintained very high-quality scores. Trenton is a Magnetic Designated hospital with Level Two Trauma, and Stroke Certification. About Trenton Hospital This Magnet®-designated facility provides comprehensive medical and surgical care for its patients and is one of four recipients of the Truven Health Advantage Award in the category of Health and Clinical Outcomes. It is home to nine university affiliated residency programs. Here, you will find a Level II trauma center that is a nationally recognized heart, vascular and pulmonary specialties along with other specialties like orthopedics, neurosurgery, and women’s health.
Requirements
- High School Graduate or Equivalent, Required
- American Heart Association or American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS), Required by completion of orientation.
Nice To Haves
- Previous hospital or nursing home experience, Preferred
- Current CNA certification, Preferred
Responsibilities
- Assists licensed nursing staff in providing direct patient care and helps in the environmental maintenance of the nursing unit under the direction of the Registered Nurse and within the scope of defined practice.
- Provides for personal care and safety needs of patients promptly under the supervision of licensed nursing staff including specific procedures and patient testing addressed in the patient plan of care.
- Maintains an orderly unit environment with sufficient supplies and equipment in order to facilitate staff performance of patient care.
- Contributes to effective communication as it related to the provision of patient care and the efficient operation needs of the unit.
- Facilitates the admission, discharge and transfer of patients on and off unit in accordance with established policies and procedures.
