About The Position

Under the general direction of the Vice President for Patient Services, this role assumes daily responsibility for the management of Nursing Services. The position involves managing available resources to meet organizational and departmental goals, maintaining awareness of interdepartmental relationships, and facilitating communication to optimize patient care. The supervisor is expected to promote cooperation, a positive attitude, and create a safe environment for both patients and staff. They are responsible for knowing and adhering to established Hospital policies and procedures, including all aspects of safety. These responsibilities are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties and skills required.

Requirements

  • Current license to practice in New York State.
  • BSN required.
  • Current BLS provider certification from the American Heart Association required.
  • Minimum five (5) years progressive experience in Nursing.

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in nursing or related field highly desirable.
  • Current ACLS and PALS provider certification from the American Heart Association preferred.
  • As part of employment at Southampton Hospital, there may be occasions when travel to other locations is needed to support operational needs.
  • This position may require the wearing of respiratory protection, which may prohibit the wearing of facial hair.
  • This function/position maybe designated as “essential.” This means that when the Hospital is faced with an institutional emergency, employees in such positions may be required to remain at their work location or to report to work to protect, recover, and continue operations at Stony Brook Medicine, Stony Brook University Hospital and related facilities.
