About The Position

South College is seeking a Nursing Academic Specialist to mentor and tutor BSN, ASN, and LPN nursing students in mastering didactic content throughout their educational journey. This role reports to the Nursing Academic Manager and collaborates with nursing faculty to identify strategies for student retention. The specialist will also develop and host concept-based workshops to enhance students' critical thinking and clinical judgment skills. This is an on-site position at the South College, Orlando Campus, with a Monday-Friday schedule, and potential weekend and evening support as needed.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing
  • Unencumbered RN License
  • BLS CPR Certification
  • One-year experience in an academic setting, strongly preferred
  • Excellent communication skills via telephone, email, virtually, and in person
  • Mastery of ATI

Responsibilities

  • Support instruction, remediation, and evaluation in didactic concepts
  • Demonstrate accurate knowledge of concepts tested by the NCLEX-RN and NCLEX-PN exam
  • Demonstrate professional behavior and accountability in all interactions
  • Develop and provide student workshops and study sessions
  • Provide 1:1 student support with nursing concepts
  • Provide group and individual support for NCLEX prep
  • Mentoring students
  • Help identify strategies for increase retention
  • Other duties as assigned
