Nursery School Associate Teacher
About The Position
The Saul and Carole Zabar Nursery School at the Marlene Meyerson Jewish Community Center of Manhattan is seeking a full-time Associate Teacher. The school is Reggio-inspired, grounded in Jewish values, and child-centered. It views students as citizens with powerful ideas and voices, and teachers facilitate learning by collaborating with children as researchers and guiding and following the interests of the group. The school is inclusive and celebrates each child’s developmental differences. Teachers support children’s learning, relationships, achievements, and points of view, making their work visible through documentation. They partner with families to build classroom and schoolwide community, and contribute as learners and leaders whose ideas shape the school. The Associate Teacher will work with teaching teams and support observation and documentation. The role reports to the Nursery School Director.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree, or progress toward one, in a related field.
- Relevant experience.
- Openness to learning about the Reggio Emilia teaching philosophy and Jewish values as they pertain to work with children.
Responsibilities
- Work collaboratively with various teaching teams.
- Support teaching teams with observation and documentation.
- Additional responsibilities may be assigned by the Director or Associate Director as needed.
