About The Position

Georgia Fugees Academy Charter School (GFACS) is seeking a Nurse to serve 6th-12th grade students. This 10-month, exempt position requires an unwavering commitment to the Fugees Family, Inc. mission and a willingness to go above and beyond to meet the needs of students, families, and staff. The program begins with middle-school-level students, but the instructional scope starts at Kindergarten-level material, as most Fugees Academy students enter middle school performing well below grade level. The Nurse reports to the School Leader.

Requirements

  • Current Registered Nurse license or registration as required by state or jurisdiction.
  • Completion of an accredited nursing program.
  • Knowledge of nursing practices, patient care standards, and medical documentation procedures.
  • Ability to assess patient needs and respond appropriately to changes in condition.
  • Strong communication, critical thinking, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary healthcare teams.
  • Excellent command of the English language with a passion for supporting expressive language in non-native speakers.
  • A strong sense of loving accountability and individual and collective responsibility.
  • Believe that all students are capable of academic achievement.
  • Commit to building deep, authentic relationships with students and families.
  • Duties and expectations are carried out in a positive, productive, accurate, and punctual/on-time manner.
  • Be receptive to coaching, mentoring, feedback, and performance evaluations for purposes of professional growth and development.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing preferred.
  • Prior clinical nursing experience in a hospital, clinic, long-term care, rehabilitation, or similar healthcare setting.
  • Experience with electronic medical records systems.
  • Certification in Basic Life Support or other relevant clinical certifications, depending on workplace requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Assess patient health problems, symptoms, needs, and overall condition.
  • Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans.
  • Administer nursing care to patients who are ill, injured, convalescent, or disabled.
  • Monitor patient progress and respond to changes in condition.
  • Maintain accurate and timely patient medical records.
  • Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by authorized healthcare providers.
  • Collaborate with physicians, healthcare professionals, patients, and families to coordinate care.
  • Educate patients and families on health maintenance, disease prevention, treatment plans, and post-care instructions.
  • Provide emotional support and guidance to patients and families.
  • Follow established clinical procedures, safety standards, and infection-control protocols.
  • Support case management activities when appropriate.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable healthcare regulations, facility policies, and professional nursing standards.
