About The Position

The Arc Eastern Connecticut has been providing services to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities for more than 60 years. We actively champion for full community inclusion and are a licensed and contracted service provider of the Connecticut Department of Development Services. We provide residential, daytime, employment, and social supports to people with IDD and their families. Come join our team!

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing
  • Minimum of 3-5yrs exp. in a clinical setting, preferably serving individuals with developmental and physical disabilities
  • Experience with Department of Development Services regulations, forms, and protocols
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office suit
  • Current State of CT RN License
  • The Nurse must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
  • May be exposed to the risk of injury or exposure to occupational health hazards
  • Carries own malpractice insurance

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of nursing care, medications, and implementing agency policies and procedures to ensure the safety/wellbeing of individuals with IDD.
  • Available for consultation regarding first aid, medical needs and emergency care of individuals.
  • Ensure compliance with all state and regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Represent staff in-services relating to medications and nursing issues.
  • Ensures confidentiality as required by Law, The Arc ECT, and DDS policies and procedures which includes keeping records, conversations, correspondence (regarding program participants and staff) confidential.
  • Responsible for all aspects of nursing care and medications to all individuals served by The Arc Eastern CT.
  • Treats all individuals in an age-appropriate manner, with respect and dignity.
  • Maintains a professional and positive attitude when working with staff.
  • Works with a spirit of cooperation with all departments.
  • Carries out all job responsibilities in a professional manner.
  • Maintains attendance. Adheres to policies on attendance, days of absence, and illness.
  • Keeps supervisor informed of any significant events or the need to modify any area of the operation/activity.
