About The Position

The Fertility Nurse is responsible for coordinating and delivering patient-centered care throughout all stages of the fertility journey, including clinical cycle coordination, patient education, support during procedures, and recovery room care. The nurse manages a caseload of patients, ensures clear and accurate documentation, supports quality assurance processes, and provides compassionate emotional support. This role includes responsibilities in both fertility care and operating room/recovery care and may require travel between the Mississauga and Oakville clinic locations.

Requirements

  • RPN required; RN preferred
  • Minimum 1 year of nursing experience (RPN or RN)
  • Current RPN/RN license in good standing
  • Current BLS & ACLS certification
  • Competent in accessing, inputting, and retrieving electronic medical information
  • Knowledge of clinic processes, equipment, and general office procedures
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a multidisciplinary team
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a patient caseload
  • Ability to convey information clearly, accurately, and succinctly

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in women’s health and/or fertility preferred

Responsibilities

  • Counsel, educate, and coordinate patient care throughout all phases of fertility treatment including pre-screening, treatment, and post-treatment follow up.
  • Manage a caseload of patients and ensure physician orders are communicated and understood.
  • Review patient charts to confirm consents, bloodwork, and pre-procedure requirements are completed in advance.
  • Direct and monitor cycling visits, including medication teaching (schedule, dosage, administration).
  • Communicate laboratory results with interpretation and guidance.
  • Coordinate scheduling of all fertility cycles and procedures with patients and appropriate departments (financial, lab, OR, etc).
  • Provide education on fertility procedures including Egg Retrieval, Embryo Transfer, IUI, Sonohysterogram, and Endometrial Biopsy.
  • Establish a compassionate environment by providing emotional and psychological support to patients and families.
  • Ensure quality care by adhering to therapeutic standards, clinic protocols, and regulatory guidelines.
  • Perform routine clinical assessments (height, weight, vital signs, phlebotomy, etc).
  • Participate in medication administration and patient monitoring.
  • Assist physicians during clinic procedures, examinations, and operating room procedures in ACLS or scrub capacity.
  • Admit patients for OR procedures, complete verification processes, and provide post-anesthetic recovery care.
  • Monitor post-procedure recovery and escalate concerns to physicians as appropriate.
  • Maintain safe, clean, and compliant clinical and OR environments.
  • Ensure crash cart medications, OR supplies, linens, and clinical inventory are consistently maintained.
  • Follow infection control practices, medication storage requirements, and controlled substance regulations.
  • Ensure equipment is functioning properly and report malfunctions promptly.
  • Document all patient care in eIVF and clinical records.
  • Ensure accurate and timely charting in eIVF and other documentation systems.
  • Participate in quality assurance initiatives including infection control and autoclaving of instruments.
  • Act as a resource to team members and collaborate within a multidisciplinary environment.
  • Make appropriate referrals to other team members when needed.
  • Cover weekends and holidays as assigned.
  • Attend meetings and communicate relevant clinical or operational issues appropriately.
  • Support overall program goals through effective teamwork and independent work when required.
  • Report to work on time, ready for scheduled duties.
  • Travel between the Mississauga and Oakville clinic sites may be required based on operational needs.
  • Maintain professional knowledge through in-house and external education.
  • Follow all provincial regulations related to professional licensure.
