Nurse - Step Down Unit - OPT

Froedtert•West Bend, WI

About The Position

The Registered Nurse provides nursing care to an identified group of primarily adult patients in an inpatient setting. The role is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating care, and requires clinical competence in the care and management of patient populations relevant to the unit. Nurses in the Modified Care Unit care for patients who need more focused monitoring and more complex nursing interventions than patients on a general medical-surgical unit. The supportive team environment offers opportunities to build advanced assessment, critical-thinking, and clinical skills. Other duties may be assigned. The schedule is 36 hours per six-week schedule period, with one major holiday and one hard-to-staff holiday. The position is listed at 0.1 FTE. A nursing education from an accredited school sufficient to qualify for Registered Nurse licensure is required. Non-BSN nurses with less than one year of licensed RN experience at hire must enroll in a BSN or higher nursing degree program: acceptance is expected within 15 months of hire, and the degree must be completed within five years of enrollment, or six years for an MSN, DNP, or PhD in Nursing. A BSN is preferred. A current Wisconsin RN license or qualifying multistate NLC license is required. BLS is required within 90 days of hire, and ACLS is required within one year of hire.
