About The Position

The Nurse Technician provides patient care within the scope of practice under the supervision and direction of an Oklahoma State Licensed Nurse. The role implements the nursing process in accordance with hospital standards and procedures to help increase patient functional status. This position is on Medical/Surgical 5 Tower at the Muskogee Campus in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and is full-time on a night shift from 7:00 p.m. to 7:00 a.m., with a variable schedule that includes weekends. The position is identified as safety-sensitive under Oklahoma law.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Completion of the Saint Francis Hospital Nurse Technician Training Program or a Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
0–6 months of related experience; previous healthcare-related experience will be considered.
Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
Ability to be detail-oriented when documenting numerical data.

Responsibilities

Provide basic patient care to an assigned group of patients.
Perform procedural tasks and assist with activities of daily living, considering patients’ age and cultural and psychosocial factors.
Observe and report patients’ conditions, activities, and needs accurately and promptly to a licensed nurse.
Demonstrate specialty skills and knowledge appropriate to the patient population.
Perform technical procedures listed on the unit-specific skills checklist as delegated by the licensed nurse.
Document data according to unit and hospital policy, including legible and accurate records of treatments and procedures.
Promptly record intake and output, vital signs, and other data.
Support unit and hospital goals through performance-improvement and educational activities; attend mandatory in-services and meet unit educational standards.
Complete variance reports accurately.
Modify behavior or performance to comply with care standards and unit requirements.
Maintain clean and orderly patient rooms and units, complete assigned unit duties, and perform housekeeping duties as assigned.
Transport patients, food, supplies, equipment, and specimens as necessary.
