About The Position

The Nurse Technician provides patient care within the scope of practice under the supervision and direction of an Oklahoma State Licensed Nurse. The role uses the nursing process and follows hospital standards and procedures to support patients’ functional status. This position is in Medical/Surgical 5 Tower at the Muskogee Campus and is designated safety sensitive under Oklahoma law.

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED.
• Completion of the Saint Francis Hospital Nurse Technician Training Program or a Certified Nursing Assistant Program.
• CPR certification required within 30 days of hire.
• 0–6 months of related experience.
• Ability to organize and prioritize work effectively and efficiently.
• Attention to detail when documenting numerical data.

• Previous health care-related experience will be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide basic patient care to an assigned group of patients.
• Perform procedural tasks and assist with activities of daily living, considering patients’ age and cultural and psychosocial factors.
• Observe patients’ conditions, activities, and needs, and report them accurately and promptly to a licensed nurse.
• Demonstrate specialty skills and knowledge appropriate to the patient population.
• Perform technical procedures listed on the unit-specific skills checklist when delegated by a licensed nurse.
• Document data, treatments, and procedures according to unit and hospital policy, accurately and legibly.
• Record intake and output, vital signs, and other data promptly.
• Support unit and hospital goals through performance-improvement and educational activities.
• Attend mandatory in-services and meet unit educational standards.
• Complete variance reports accurately.
• Modify behaviors or performance to comply with care standards and unit requirements.
• Maintain a clean and orderly patient room and unit, complete assigned unit duties, and perform housekeeping duties as assigned.
• Transport patients, food, supplies, equipment, and specimens as necessary.
