About The Position
At New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist, Nurse Technicians provide bedside care and serve as important points of contact for patients and families. They provide compassionate, patient-focused care and perform select care duties under the supervision of a registered nurse. The role helps improve the patient experience and maintain a safe, clean, and healthy environment while contributing to smooth operations and collaborative patient care. This is a full-time evening position in the Psychiatric Intensive Care Unit 6North at New York-Presbyterian Brooklyn Methodist. The scheduled shift is 3:30 p.m. to midnight, including three weekends per month. The role requires on-site presence, and employees should live within commuting distance of NYP. Travel expenses are not reimbursed.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Successful completion of an accredited Nurse Technician/Patient Care Technician Program, Nursing Assistant, EKG, and Phlebotomy Program, or Medical Assistant Program, with documentation of completion.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS) certification.
- Ability to lift, move, and position patients of all weights with varying amounts of assistance on a regular and recurring basis.
- Dexterity of fingers, hands, arms, and feet; speech, touch, vision, and hearing within normal range with corrections.
Nice To Haves
- At least one year of experience as a Nurse Technician, Patient Care Technician, or Medical Assistant in a healthcare setting.
