About The Position

We are a float pool, and our goal is to provide flexible staffing. We provide broad exposure to different patient populations as we support all 36+ inpatient nursing units including adults, pediatrics, and women’s health. Culturally, we are a very close-knit group despite our size. We pride ourselves in getting to know each team member individually and we try to personally acknowledge/support individuals on our team. Corewell Health William Beaumont University Hospital was recognized by U.S. News & World Report with an impressive performance, tying for the top spot in the state and ranking nationally in the OB/GYN category. It is a major academic and referral center with Level I adult and Level II pediatric trauma designations, and has earned Magnet designation four consecutive times.

Requirements

  • Currently enrolled and attending an accredited school of registered nursing.
  • May be enrolled in an (accredited) Bachelor of Science in Nursing Program (BSN) or Associate Degree of Nursing (ADN) Program.
  • ADN graduates will be required to sign a BSN completion agreement upon hire/placement in a graduate nurse position.
  • RN from another state awaiting Michigan Licensure (or) Graduate Nurse from accredited school of nursing awaiting retake of NCLEX or awaiting results of the last exam.
  • Transcripts must be provided at the time of hire and may be requested for review periodically.
  • High School Diploma
  • Evidence of successful completion of adult medical-surgical rotations – theory and clinical.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) - AHA American Heart Association Or ARC American Red Cross, Upon Hire required

Nice To Haves

  • Considering nursing students graduating in spring 2027 or later.
  • Provide unofficial transcripts with application, if possible.
  • Candidates can choose preferred shifts based on school schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Under supervision of a Nurse and following hospital policies and procedures, performs various nursing care tasks and treatments on assigned patients.
  • Performs routine bedside nursing activities including bathing and personal grooming of patients; ambulating, moving and turning patients; assisting patients with bedpans or urinary devices; making patient beds and caring for personal property.
  • Assists in performing additional nursing procedures such as catheterizations, suctioning, irrigating colostomies, applying restraints, giving enemas, douches and sitz baths or pericare.
