About The Position

As a Nursing Technician with Corewell Health, you will provide patient care under the supervision and direction of a Registered Nurse or Provider. You will perform basic nursing skills, observe patients, and communicate observations to other members of the care team. The role supports safe, quality, cost-effective care for patients and their families in the Progressive Care Unit Cardiac A at Lakeland Hospital St Joseph. This is a full-time night-shift position, scheduled for 36 hours per week from 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., with variable workdays and every other weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association or American Red Cross required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Collect and report patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as directed by the RN or Provider.
• Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Provide direct patient care under the direction of the RN or Provider, following clinical policies, procedures, and department standard work.
• Provide input into the development of an individualized plan of care.
• Explain the nursing technician role to patients, families, and health team members.
• Support the delivery of safe, quality, cost-effective patient care.
• Clean patients’ environments, work areas, and equipment, and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate department or unit personnel.
• Demonstrate high standards of moral and ethical behavior.
• Advocate for the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organizational data.
