About The Position

As a Nursing Technician with Corewell Health, you will provide patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse or Provider. You will perform basic nursing skills, observe patients, and communicate observations to other team members. This position is in the Cardiac Progressive Care Unit at Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph. It is a full-time night-shift role with 36 scheduled hours per week, working 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m. on variable days and every other weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required within 90 days.
• Alternatively, American Red Cross Basic Life Support (BLS) certification, required within 90 days.

Responsibilities

• Collect and report patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as directed by the RN or Provider.
• Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Provide direct patient care under the direction of the RN or Provider, consistent with clinical policies, procedures, and department standard work.
• Provide input into the development of an individualized plan of care.
• Explain the nursing technician role to patients, families, and health team members.
• Support safe, quality, cost-effective patient care.
• Clean patients’ environments, work areas, and equipment, and report equipment malfunctions to appropriate department or unit personnel.
• Demonstrate high standards of moral and ethical behavior.
• Protect the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organizational data.
