Nurse Tech Pediatric Emergency Department
About The Position
The Nurse Tech works as a team member in delivering quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider. They perform basic skills according to department guidelines and communicate observations to the healthcare team. This role involves collecting and reporting on patients' and families' physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with the RN or Provider. Responsibilities include taking vital signs, checking blood sugars, assisting with bed baths, ambulation, wound care, catheterization, and acting as a safety attendant for patients. The Nurse Tech is also responsible for ensuring that required documentation is completed accurately and in a timely manner.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent Required
- AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days
Responsibilities
- Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
- Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
- Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
- Takes vitals.
- Checks blood sugars.
- Assists with bed bathing.
- Assists with ambulating patients.
- Performs wound care.
- Performs catheterization.
- Acts as a safety attendant for patients.
- Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
