Nurse Tech - Med-Surg/Oncology - PRN (As Needed)
About The Position
The Nurse Tech works on Woman’s 36-bed Med-Surg/Oncology Unit, which cares for adult patients with a broad range of medical and surgical needs. These include surgical oncology for gynecologic and breast cancers, complications of cancer therapy, surgical interventions, bariatric, general and plastic surgeries, infusion therapy, and other medical and surgical conditions. The unit’s interdisciplinary team includes doctors, specialists, surgeons, nurses, social workers, dieticians and caregivers, and provides a compassionate, supportive, safe and therapeutic environment for patients, families and staff. The position is PRN (as needed), with a minimum commitment of one 12-hour shift every two weeks. Pay is $16.00–$21.53, plus applicable PRN and shift differentials.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- Enrollment in a registered nurse program at an accredited nursing school.
- Current participation in a hospital clinical rotation.
Responsibilities
- Effectively use the Nursing Process while performing a variety of patient care duties.
- Perform designated patient care skills safely, competently and independently.
- Manage time effectively, use good judgment and make sound decisions.
- Communicate effectively.
- Adapt behavior to the patient population, including respecting privacy, introducing oneself appropriately, adapting explanations of services or procedures, requesting permissions and adjusting communication style.
- Document care electronically when care is rendered, as applicable to the area.
- Maintain confidentiality of patient and hospital information.
- Perform other duties as required and applicable to the specific unit.
