About The Position

The Nurse Tech provides direct patient care under the direction of an RN or Provider, following clinical policies, procedures, and department standard work. The role involves collecting and reporting information about patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs; contributing input to individualized plans of care; and completing required documentation accurately and on time. The Nurse Tech explains the nursing technician role to patients, families, and health team members, and supports safe, quality, cost-effective patient care. The position also includes cleaning patient environments, work areas, and equipment and reporting equipment malfunctions. The Nurse Tech is expected to demonstrate high moral and ethical standards and protect the privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organizational data.

This part-time position is based at Corewell Health Lakeland Hospital in St. Joseph, in the Intensive Care Unit. It has variable shifts, with stated hours of 7:00 p.m. to 7:30 a.m., 24 scheduled hours per week, variable workdays, and every third weekend.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• ARC or AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 90 days of hire.

Responsibilities

• Collect and report patients’ and families’ physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs in coordination with and as directed by an RN or Provider.
• Complete required documentation accurately and in a timely manner.
• Provide direct patient care under the direction of an RN or Provider, consistent with clinical policies, procedures, and department standard work.
• Provide input into the development of individualized plans of care.
• Explain the nursing technician role to patients, families, and health team members.
• Support safe, quality, cost-effective patient care.
• Clean patient environments, work areas, and equipment, and communicate equipment malfunctions to appropriate department or unit personnel.
• Demonstrate high moral and ethical standards and advocate for privacy, confidentiality, and security of patient, staff, and organizational data.
