About The Position

1H is a 22-bed adult critical care unit at Blodgett Hospital, caring for medical and some surgical ICU patients. Team members on 1H will encounter a wide variety of ages and diagnoses, participating in diverse ICU-level care. Diagnoses include stroke, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and respiratory failure. You will learn about ventilators, sedation, paralytics, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), post-cardiac arrest cooling, ICU thrombolytic therapy, and more. The experience gained on 1H provides a foundation for ICU-level care. The 1H team includes nurses with varied experience levels on both day and night shifts, and they are eager to teach. Collaboration occurs with ICU providers, respiratory care, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social work to meet all patient needs. 1H is a supportive environment for new staff and welcomes new members to the 1H family. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • 1 year of direct patient care experience STRONGLY preferred.
  • AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
  • Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
  • Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
  • Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.
  • Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
