1H is a 22-bed adult critical care unit at Blodgett Hospital, caring for medical and some surgical ICU patients. Team members on 1H will encounter a wide variety of ages and diagnoses, participating in diverse ICU-level care. Diagnoses include stroke, sepsis, diabetic ketoacidosis, and respiratory failure. You will learn about ventilators, sedation, paralytics, continuous renal replacement therapy (CRRT), post-cardiac arrest cooling, ICU thrombolytic therapy, and more. The experience gained on 1H provides a foundation for ICU-level care. The 1H team includes nurses with varied experience levels on both day and night shifts, and they are eager to teach. Collaboration occurs with ICU providers, respiratory care, physical therapy, pharmacy, and social work to meet all patient needs. 1H is a supportive environment for new staff and welcomes new members to the 1H family.
