About The Position

3D is a Medical-Surgical unit located at Blodgett Hospital that is dedicated to care for complex medical patients as well as being distinguished as a Primary Stroke Center of Excellence. This unit is an excellent place to build your clinical experience, develop your skills, and grow in your career. Team members are often drawn to 3D for the variety of patients and skills utilized. Some of the patient types we routinely see are respiratory illnesses, acute kidney injuries, stroke, diabetic care, seizures, GI bleed and other acute GI illnesses, sickle cell crisis, pancreatitis, and psychiatric care. Our units are built on collaboration, teamwork, and a strong commitment to providing exceptional patient care. Blodgett is an ever-growing, 330-bed acute care teaching hospital located in East Grand Rapids. Originally founded in 1846, Blodgett has continued to grow and evolve to meet the needs of the community. As a Level III trauma campus with a large annual surgical volume, we are equipped to care for a wide range of acute care patients. We offer numerous specialty units that provide care unique to Blodgett in Grand Rapids, including Total Joint Replacement, a Primary Stroke Center, Acute Care of the Elderly, and Bariatric Surgery. With units ranging from 20 to 24 beds, we foster close-knit teams while still providing highly specialized acute care. Our inpatient nursing units also partner with our discharge lounge and virtual nursing teams housed at Blodgett, as well as 24/7 hospital supervisor and security support. Recently, we welcomed external partner sites for Meijer Pharmacy and Starbucks. This fall, we will also offer on-site parking to all team members. Together, these resources and partnerships create a supportive environment where team members can thrive while delivering exceptional patient care.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or Work Equivalent
• AHA or ARC Basic Life Support (BLS) Required within 90 days

Responsibilities

• Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
• Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
• Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
• Responsibilities include taking vitals, checking blood sugars, bed bathing, ambulating, wound care, catheterization and acting as a safety attendant for patients.
• Ensures that the required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
