About The Position
The MedSurg unit is a 44-bed facility providing direct care for the general Medical Surgical population in Ludington, Mason County, and surrounding areas of West Michigan. This unit primarily cares for patients with a wide range of diagnoses including pneumonia, cellulitis, kidney failure, hyperglycemia, diabetic issues, ulcers, confused elderly, alcohol abuse, acute/chronic kidney injury, sepsis, and psychiatric conditions. Ludington Hospital has a history of over a century of providing comprehensive healthcare services to Mason and Oceana County residents and tourists, utilizing experienced doctors, advanced technology, and the resources of a top health system.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Basic Life support certification is required within 90 days of hire.
Nice To Haves
- Active CNA Certification strongly preferred.
Responsibilities
- Acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) or Provider.
- Performs basic skills per department guidelines and communicates observations to members of the health care team.
- Collects and reports physiological, psychological, sociocultural, and spiritual needs of patients and families in coordination with and as delineated by the RN or Provider.
- Takes vitals.
- Checks blood sugars.
- Provides bed bathing.
- Assists with ambulation.
- Performs wound care.
- Performs catheterization.
- Acts as a safety attendant for patients.
- Ensures that required documentation is performed in an accurate and timely manner.
