About The Position
The Nurse Technician acts as a team member in the delivery of quality patient care under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN). This role is on the 6 North unit, a 38-bed Cardiovascular inpatient unit specializing in adult patients with Heart Failure, cardiac dysrhythmias, newly implanted pacemakers and defibrillators, pulmonary hypertension, and cardiac conditions requiring medical treatment. Most patients receive continuous telemetry monitoring. This unit offers a wide variety of cardiovascular and progressive care experiences, allowing for the development of a robust skill set, time management skills, and proficiency in managing patients with complex conditions. The unit culture emphasizes teamwork and support. Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification within 90 days
Responsibilities
- Taking vitals
- Checking blood sugars
- Bed bathing
- Ambulating patients
- Wound care
- Catheterization
- Acting as a safety attendant for patients
- Cleans patient’s environment / work area / equipment
- Communicates any equipment malfunctions to appropriate department / unit personnel
- Demonstrates a high standard of moral and ethical behavior
- Advocates for privacy, confidentiality and security of patient, staff and organization data
