The Iowa Veterans Home is seeking an excited, motivated RN interested in growing their leadership skills while leading a team of Nursing staff on the evening shift. This Nursing Supervisor has shift specific accountability for nursing personnel on the evening shift in the management of healthcare delivery in the Dack building. Makes frequent rounds in the assigned coverage area providing support, assisting in problem solving, and monitoring clinical competencies. Assists with clinical coverage when needed. Works with evening shift peers to ensure leadership coverage Monday through Friday with the occasional weekend and holiday rotation. Has the option of working four 10 hour shifts each week. Covers as a house supervisor acting as a resource for all nursing staff in the facility.

Requirements

  • Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator’s Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing.
  • Graduation from an accredited four-year college or university with a bachelor’s degree in nursing AND one year of full-time professional clinical work experience in a correctional environment or in any combination of nursing specialty areas including epidemiology, geriatrics, maternal and child health, nursing education, pediatrics, public health, mental health or psychiatrics, or intellectual disability.
  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master’s degree in nursing.
  • Licensure as Registered Nurse in the State of Iowa by the Iowa Board of Nursing or licensure as a Registered Nurse in accordance with the Nurse Licensure Compact Administrator’s Agreement of the National Council of State Boards of Nursing AND one year of full-time professional clinical work experience in a correctional environment or in any combination of nursing specialty areas including epidemiology, geriatrics, maternal and child health, nursing education, pediatrics, public health, mental health or psychiatrics, or intellectual disability AND a total of four years of education and/or full-time experience (as described in part b), where thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work in nursing equals one year of full-time experience.

Responsibilities
