About The Position
The Joseph "Eddie" Ballard Western Kentucky Veterans Center is a 156-bed long-term care facility committed to serving Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing compassionate care. We are currently seeking a motivated Registered Nurse to work in our nursing department as an Infection Control Nurse. The Registered Nurse should have knowledge and skills of Infection Control within the healthcare profession. Although not required, the ideal candidate would have training and/or completion of an approved CMS Long-Term Care Infection Preventionist Certification Program. The ideal candidate will work within a team-centered environment to meet our commitment to serve Kentucky’s Veterans by fostering independence, preserving dignity, and providing Compassionate Care. This agency is prohibited from hiring employees with convictions identified in 906 KAR 1:190. A fingerprint-supported national background check will be conducted prior to an offer of employment. This position, in Hopkins county has an approved Locality Premium of $15.09 in compliance with 101 KAR 2:034 Section 9(1).
Requirements
- Must have three years of experience as a Registered Nurse.
- Must be licensed in Kentucky as a registered nurse or possess a valid work permit issued by the Kentucky Board of Nursing.
- Must maintain any required licensure(s), certification(s), or other credentials for the length of employment in this job classification.
Nice To Haves

Responsibilities
- Manage infection control practices ensuring compliance with all state and federal regulations
- Makes regular rounds on the nursing units ensuring coverage and optimal resident care.
- Attends team meetings and presides over team meetings as needed.
- Supervises professional and ancillary employees in the administration of efficient nursing care.
- Performs duties of a Registered Nurse as needed.
