About The Position
This role involves supervising nursing staff in a physician practice, specifically within a Wound Care Center. The Nurse Supervisor is responsible for scheduling, assigning duties, and assessing the performance of the nursing team. They also perform direct patient care, utilizing the nursing process for admission, treatment, and follow-up. This position requires a strong understanding of nursing processes, patient care, and staff management.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) required.
- Current License to practice as a Registered Professional Nurse in New York State required.
- 4-6 years of relevant experience required.
- 0-2 years of leadership / management experience required.

- Previous experience as a Registered Nurse in Wound care preferred.
Responsibilities
- Supervises, hires, educates, disciplines, and evaluates the performance of nursing staff.
- Develops long-term practice staffing schedules and ensures adequate daily coverage.
- Develops, measures, and monitors practice clinical operational performance metrics, including agency and overtime costs.
- Ensures performance appraisals are completed in a timely manner; interviews nursing candidates and orients new employees.
- Educates staff in new and existing department procedures and systems.
- Identifies quality improvement issues and develops practice-based quality improvement programs, as well as standards of care and practice.
- Oversees the education and orientation of nursing staff and stays updated on current trends and departmental affairs.
- Maintains a current level of knowledge, including Evidenced Based Practice, relative to professional practice.
- Conducts monthly meetings with staff to discuss equipment, scheduling, goals, objectives, performance metrics, improvement activities, and staff concerns.
- Performs all duties of a Registered Professional Nurse as necessary.
- Performs related duties as required.
