The Nurse Supervisor performs supervisory functions for a Division or specialty nursing unit, providing oversight of all aspects of nursing services rendered to physically and mentally disabled persons to foster optimal health and is responsible for quality assurance audits, continuously monitoring the care provided on all shifts, identifying nursing training needs and developing approaches to solving problems, and communicates closely with the Division Director and Home Manager/QDDP’s in each home and with supervisors in other departments as the need arises, and may serve on task forces and committees as requested. Oversees implementation of established policies/procedures, ICF/IID Regulations, medical/nursing policies and procedures and the NC Nurse Practice Act to provide high quality nursing care for individuals, and exercises a high level of independent clinical decision making. Provides training and mentoring functions for their individual area of assignment, reviews work of assigned staff, and provides input to the Director of Nursing or a higher level Nurse Supervisor for development of policy and procedures. Assists in solving professional, administrative and supervisory problems and employee relations issues, and perform limited budgetary functions. This Nurse Supervisor ensures provision of competent nursing care to all residents living in the homes in the area on all shifts and may occasionally provide weekend supervision. Supervises RNs and LPNs assigned to the area and provides health care instruction to Healthcare Technicians as indicated. Acts as a liaison between care providers to assure that problems are resolved as rapidly as possible so continuity of care is provided.
