About The Position

Acacia Health Center in Northeast Phoenix/Scottsdale is hiring a Nurse Educator/Staff Development Coordinator to join their team. They are part of the Sagewood Senior Living Community, a CMS 5-Star Rated Facility. The Nurse Educator is responsible for the development and implementation of on-going educational programs at Acacia Health Center.

Requirements

  • Current Arizona RN license required.
  • Two years of training and development experience required.
  • Two years in long-term care required.
  • Ability to read, write and speak effectively in English.
  • Basic mathematical skills required.
  • Ability to understand, follow and support established policies and procedures of the facility.
  • Ability to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately.
  • Ability to plan, organize and prioritize assignments efficiently.
  • Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision.
  • Ability to adapt teaching to the situation and diversity of learners.
  • Current CPR certification.
  • Computer literacy needed.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Leadership and teaching skills required.
  • Understanding and empathy of the uniqueness of the needs of the elderly required.

Nice To Haves

  • Wound certification preferred.
  • Infection prevention and control certification preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan, develop, direct, conduct, evaluate, coordinate staff training, education, in service, and orientation.
  • Train and educate the nursing staff.
  • Be knowledgeable of practices and procedures as well as the laws, regulations, and guidelines governing functions in the post-acute care facility.
  • Implement and interpret the programs, goals, objectives, policies, and procedures of the department.
  • Plan the annual and monthly training program calendar in collaboration with Director of Nursing.
  • Work along with the Director of Nursing and Infection Preventionist to identify areas for educational opportunities and develop in-services based on the community's educational needs.
  • Maintain appropriate training records and program materials as required by federal and state regulations.
  • Conduct department specific orientation to Health Center nursing staff including completion of the clinical skills checklist.
  • Monitor outcome of employee training sessions regarding skills taught and session evaluations.
  • Serve on the QAPI & Risk Committees, submit reports and other committees as assigned.
  • Coordinate the activities of students engaged in learning programs within the facility from various learning institutions.
  • Follow and investigate incidents, generate reports and report them to the Director of Nursing.
  • Participate in Nursing Administration on-call rotation.
