About The Position

The Registered Nurse (RN) provides nursing care to patients utilizing the nursing process and standards of practice for a professional nurse. The RN is expected to perform all staff nurse activities and function as charge nurse when assigned. The RN maintains overall accountability/responsibility for assigned patients, even though some activities/tasks may be delegated to Technical Nurses, Patient Care Associates, and/or Sitters. Assignments are performed appropriately to age and developmental level of patients being served. All team members will be expected to work all areas of their unit. 3N RNs will be required to work MB, NBN, and attend deliveries. The LD RN will be required to work LD, WAC, LD PACU, and the LD OR. NICU/NICU SD will be required to work both areas. All Women Service team members will be required to float between units as needed to work within their scope of practice.

Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree from an accredited school of nursing.
  • Graduate of an accredited school of nursing.
  • Florida Nursing License: Current license to practice nursing in the State of Florida is required.
  • BLS — Basic Life Support: American Heart Association BLS certification is required for all areas.
  • ACLS — Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support: Effective November 20, 2025, ACLS certification is required within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
  • NRP — Neonatal Resuscitation Program: NRP certification is required within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
  • AWHONN Fetal Heart Monitoring (FHM): AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced certification is required. New hires and transfers must obtain AWHONN FHM Intermediate or Advanced certification within one (1) year of hire or transfer if they have no previous training.
  • STABLE Certification: New hires and transfers must obtain STABLE certification within six (6) months of hire or transfer.
  • 1–2 years of medical/surgicial or related experience (for Other Positions).
  • Less than one year of experience (for New Nurse Fellowship Program only).

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN).
  • Demonstrate teamwork and communicate professionally with all members of the healthcare team.
  • Demonstrate the ability to learn and apply computer technologies and procedures that impact patient care delivery.
  • One (1) year of clinical experience.
