About The Position

Farr 11 is a fast-paced, 30-bed acute care adult general medicine unit, including 26 telemetry beds. The unit cares for patients with a range of acute and chronic illnesses, including sepsis, COPD, pneumonia, diabetes, gastrointestinal disorders, cancer, failure to thrive, and eating disorders. Patients may have multiple comorbidities and complex social or psychiatric disorders. The role requires strong communication and organizational skills, adaptability, and collaborative work with a multidisciplinary team. The Nurse Resident is an entry-level registered nurse position for new graduates. The resident uses the nursing process as the framework for professional practice and provides direct care to patients and families. Training, evaluation, and competencies are overseen by a Nurse Leader in the department. Residents are automatically enrolled in a 12-month Transition to Practice: Nurse Residency Program, which complements unit-based, precepted clinical orientation. The program combines monthly classroom seminars led by expert facilitators with hands-on precepted work experiences, helping residents develop critical thinking and clinical competence, reflect on clinical experiences, receive feedback, and chart professional growth. Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center’s Nursing Mission is to build on a legacy of nursing excellence by caring with compassion, advancing the art and science of nursing, and advocating for the health of patients, families, and communities. Staff are required to be vaccinated against influenza as a condition of employment.
