About The Position

We are seeking an Inpatient Nurse Resident to join our prestigious 12-month program designed to help New Graduate Registered Nurses transition confidently into practice after graduating from an accredited nursing program. As a Nurse Resident, you will be hired in a wide range of clinical practice areas, including both adult and pediatric patient populations. These areas encompass inpatient settings (medical, surgical, critical care, psychiatric), the emergency department, and surgical services, including the operating room. You will experience an orientation specifically tailored for new-to-practice nurses, featuring mentoring by preceptors and clinical nurse specialists. Additionally, you will participate in monthly nurse resident classes with your cohort, engaging with clinical experts, problem-solving clinical challenges, and learning about resources to support your practice. The Nurse Residency Program at UW Health is part of a national initiative developed by the American Association of Colleges of Nursing and Vizient, and it is accredited by the Commission on Collegiate Nursing Education (CCNE).

Requirements

  • Associate Degree in Nursing (ADN), Bachelor Degree in Nursing (BSN or BAN) or Master Degree in Nursing (MSN) completed within the previous 12 months.
  • Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of Wisconsin.
  • Current CPR/BLS Certification upon hire.
